GP ST2 February 2021 – August 2021

In ST2, teaching takes place on alternate Tuesday afternoons. These sessions would usually take place in the Education Centre, but will be held using Zoom until further notice.

Trainees in a GP or GP+ placement should attend the Communication Skills course. This is run by GPs at Oaks Family Practice, and would normally take place at Crompton Health Centre; due to the pandemic, these will run using Zoom or MS Teams until further notice.

Links to sessions will be emailed out in advance, and will appear here the day before teaching is scheduled.

to avoid unwelcome visitors, participants will be verified in the waiting room so please ensure your display name matches with one of the ST2 list!

If the speaker has provided session handouts, they will be linked to from the session itself, or click here.

ST2-B February – August 2021

In this semester we focus on the Area of Capability entitled “Caring for the whole person and the wider community”:

The goal is moving beyond disease-centred care and into holistic, person-centred care.

In your ST2 post, we encourage you to try and reflect both in and out of work on the impact of health on the patient as a whole person, and as a member of a community (whether a family, a local area, a town-based population, and as a member of the human species).

If you haven’t done so already, take advantage of your hospital placement to consider how in-hospital treatment and management might be different in a GP-setting. And if you are in a GP post, be sure to look at the differences between your now advanced hospital experience and how it compares.

To support your learning, the teaching programme topics in this semester look to focus on areas of medicine that you may not have encountered within hospital, as well as on GP-focussed approaches to certain problems and issues.

We encourage you to consider teaching sessions in advance, and make use of guest speakers by asking questions and engaging in sessions.
