To ensure that new FY1 trainees are equipped with the local knowledge and skills needed to provide safe, high quality patient care from their first working day, it is compulsory to undertake a shadowing period in the department of their first placement.
On the shadowing day you are given time to:
- Accompany your FY1 buddies whilst they work in the department
- Be on-ward to witness patient and team interactions first hand
- Meet the teams you will work with
- Get to grips with a standard working day
