GP trainees on the Reading and Newbury scheme spend 2 years working in general practice, usually as an ST2 and ST3. We try to give you experience in more than one practice so that you can get an idea of how practices and their populations differ. Our training practices – some of which have been training GPs for decades – are assessed and approved by the GP school. Every trainer has attended a course in educational supervision in order to become a trainer and then attends regular training updates run by the scheme and the deanery to maintain and develop their skills. Many of our trainers are extremely experienced, all work in teams committed to training and education.
