CEPS are designed to provide evidence of your ability to examine a patient safely, appropriately and effectively – essential to the provision of good clinical care.
CEPS can be assessed at any time throughout your training but can only be assessed by someone who is skilled in that particular examination or proceedure. There are 6 intimate examinations (breast, prostate, rectal, bimanual, speculum and male genital) in which you must demonstrate competence by the end of ST3. There are also a range on non-intimate examinations including Respiratory system, Ear Nose and Throat, Abdominal system, Cardiovascular system, Musculoskeletal system, Neurological examination, Child 1- 5 years. You will need to demonstrate a range of non-intimate CEPS at each ESR.
