I am an ES worried about my trainee’s e-portfolio – what do I do?

Step 1

If you have concerns about either quality or quantity of learning log entries/ use of PDP

If possible, arrange a face to face/telephone discussion with trainee, offering support and asking if any problems. Follow this up with an educator’s note documenting your concerns and the outcome of the conversation

Step 2

Ongoing concerns, no or limited response to step 1

Inform you PD team. They will review the trainee’s portfolio and, if necessary, arrange to meet with them.

The outcome of the PD meeting will be documented in the trainee’s educator’s notes

Step 3

Ongoing concerns, no or limited response to step 2

Discussion with trainer, subsequent formal meeting(s) with trainee +/- ES and/or AD

Referral to panel

Document any extenuating circumstances in educator’s notes
