About Our Training Programme
Hello and welcome to Swindon GP training Scheme. We are proud to be part of the Severn Deanery.
There is lots of relevant and useful information on the Severn Deanery website, links below are likely to be of use.
The education programme provides regular trainingevents designed to meet the needs of ST1-ST3’s with some events for trainers. Our education programme is continually being improved and we regularly seek and act on feedback via online forms.
We work closely with Swindon education trust who are the CPD provider for our local area, their website and joining info is listed below:
What our Trainee’s say:
Dr Katie Heil:
”Swindon is a great place to do GP training. The hospital and community placements offer such a variety of experiences and are well balanced for GP. The teaching is good quality and the TPDs are friendly and supportive! I was lucky to do an Education Scholarship in my ST3 year which has been fun and a fab opportunity to develop different skills alongside my clinical practice.”
Membership for SET
In addition to the CPD programme SET also run a separate educational programme aimed at sessional GPs and GP locums.
Events run on a monthly basis at The Academy at GWH. Following a buffet supper there is an educational meeting specifically designed to meet the needs of sessional and locum GPs. These include significant event analysis and reflective practice sessions.
Approximately 20 doctors attend each event and it is a very friendly and informal setting in which to meet new colleagues and fulfil your appraisal needs.
