GPST3: Summer School

For ST3 Trainees who joined the ST3 programme in February and are currently preparing for a SCA sitting in 2024, we are running two more Summer School sessions.

These will all be in SR2 at the Education Centre and will run as the July sessions.

Bring practice cases and help each other give feedback.

Dr Bulama and Dr Pillon will be around on 28th August in the morning to help, but the other sessions are self directed.

This session is part of the Trainee-to-GP Course and is designed for those who have completed more than 6 months’ worth of ST3 teaching sessions.

This event is part of the Bolton SCA Preparation Course and is aimed at those who have recently started ST3.

3 Case Roleplays with First5 GPs
4 SCA Examiner Skills: Critique and Benchmarking Exercise
5 SCA Consultations with Actors

GPST3: SCA4

The scheduled teaching is for those who are yet to sit SCA.
If you have done the SCA, we advise you use this time to catch up on your portfolio entries, as we know that for many of you, the SCA has been the focus for the last few months.
Teaching  is as follows:
0915-1230 SCA Course: Lessons from an RCGP Examiner
Location: SR1, Education Centre
Dr Ian Hamer, an RCGP examiner will take you through how the SCA works with great advice on preparation for the exam.
Kat will be chairing the session.

1330-1530 SCA Course: Critique and Benchmarking

An integral part of your preparation is learning how to critique yourself and others, this session will guide on how to do this well. The attached PDF has a useful tool for looking at consultations.
This session works best if you use a computer or tablet, rather than a phone. It’s fine to eat during the session if you need (as long as you can still participate)
