The study leave year runs from August until the following July. 30 days (60 sessions) is your total allowance. From this total sessions are deducted for structured internal teaching (group work and topic teaching). The remaining sessions are available for you to organise your own external study leave events, this is applied for using the Accent system. Please remember you will need 5 days (10 sessions) for visits to your ST3 practice. You need to apply to Accent for visits to your ST3 practice.
LTFT GP Registrars have study leave time calculated on a pro-rata basis.
Once an external study leave course has been approved by your Educational Supervisor (with a written entry on your PDP), Clinical Supervisor or Rota Coordinator (for the time off to attend) and Link TPD (if a Category 3 course), you must enter the training course and estimated study leave expenses onto Accent at least six weeks before the date of the course commencing, entering the named people (Educational Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor or Rota Coordinator and Link TPD) spoken to for approval. Study leave will only be approved by the GP Office with these authorisations and it may be necessary to escalate the application to the AD/GP School for final approval.

NOTE*** If the teaching session is on the teaching timetable you do not need to submit an Accent application. Attendance will be recorded from the signed register.
