Pre-employment Checks

Non-urgent advice: Pre-employment Checks

You should have received emails containing documents and completed forms you need to send back for pre-employment checks (including the employment information form, starter checklist, occupational health form and radiation monitoring form). It is essential that these forms are completed prior to your arrival in Cornwall and sent back along with the copies of the relevant pieces of ID and proof of address. If you haven’t received this email, please contact the Junior doctor Medical staffing team at rich-tr.JuniorDoctors@nhs.net.

Non-urgent advice: Disclosure and Barring Service

DBS checks for any previous spent or unspent convictions, cautions, warnings or reprimands, and checks against the Children’s or Adults’ Barred Lists. You need a current DBS to be allowed to work. If you have a current DBS certificate issued within the last 3 years or are currently subscribed to the DBS update service, please provide your certificate number to medical staffing (should be a 12 digit number beginning with 00). If not, they will request a new one for you.

Non-urgent advice: Your National Training Number

Following appointment to the Cornwall GPVTS programme, a National Training Number (NTN) will be awarded. You should be emailed your training number before starting the training programme and you will require it to register for the RCGP ePortfolio; it is usually sent to you in Form R by the Education Programme Officer at the deanery.

Non-urgent advice: Registering as an AiT

Please ensure that you register with the RCGP as an Associate in Training (AiT) by clicking the link here.

We would also advise you to contact the College, should you have any questions regarding registration. The telephone number to use is 020 3188 7766.
