Once appointed to our training programme you will be allocated a ‘track’ by the Programme Administrator. This details your hospital and GP placements for the 3 year programme.
Hospital Posts:
You will complete 2 or 3 hospital posts in your GPST years 1 & 2. The hospital part of our training programme is based at hospitals across the patch, namely Birch Hill Hospital, Fairfield General Hospital, North Manchester General Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary and The Royal Oldham Hospital.
Our Psychiatry posts are based at hospitals across Pennine Care Foundation Trust & Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust.
Each hospital post will be for a six month period in any of the following core specialties:
- A&E
- ENT
- Medicine
- Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Psychiatry
- Paediatrics
Host Trust’s deliver an Induction Programme at the start of each placement. Attendance at this is mandatory.
In addition each department will have an in house teaching programme on a weekly basis. You are expected to attend all of these depending on your shifts and excludes holiday and illness.
During each 6 month hospital placement you will be allocated a Clinical Supervisor. This will usually be the Specialty Consultant in which you work. It is important you find out as soon as possible when starting the post who your Clinical Supervisor is. He/she has responsibility for supervising your day to day work whilst in the hospital placement and completing your reviews.
