The recorded consultation assessment (RCA) is an assessment of pre-recorded consultations (face to face, video and audio).
Each candidate submits 13 patients consultations. The cases are assessed to for clinical, professional, communication and practical skills.
The RCA may only be attempted when the trainee is in the ST3 stage of specialist training or later and is available to take throughout the year from November to May.
The three domains on which candidates are marked are:
- Data Gathering, Technical & Assessment skills
- Clinical management skills
- Interpersonal skills
