Practice Information

Wendover is a large, attractive village on the edge of the Chiltern Hills. The practice serves a population of around 14,000 patients in Wendover and surrounding villages. The population comprises a higher than average elderly population, several residential and nursing homes including adults with Learning Disabilities and a frequently mobile RAF family population.

We are our own PCN with our 2 sister practices Bedgrove Surgery and Aston Clinton surgery and have a combined patient population of about 31,000.

We are proud of our large, expert,  multidisciplinary team which include specialist nurses, health care assistants,  paramedics, clinical pharmacists, social prescriber link worker, first contact physiotherapy.  We provide a wide, comprehensive range of services for our patients, including family planning ( coil and implant fitting) joint injections , nurse led HRT/Menopause services and a dedicated complex care team .

We are an experienced learning environment for GP trainees, medical students and offer work experience placements.

Wendover has been training GP registrars for many years and it remains a high priority within the practice. We have 2 enthusiastic trainers, Dr Alexandra Bates and Dr Elizabeth Ferguson . Dr Ferguson is our Care Homes Clinical Lead GP.  Dr Bates joined the practice in 2004, has a particular interest in women’s health, learning disabilities and is respiratory lead GP for the PCN. She is also a programme director for Buckinghamshire VTS and sits on ARCP.

Dr Zohra Shaikh is currently training to become a trainer.
