About Worthing Health Education Centre

Worthing Health Education Centre (WHEC) was previously known as Worthing Postgraduate Medical Centre (PGMC). The purpose built premises were constructed in 1996 as part of the lower-ground floor of Worthing Hospitals’ east-wing.

Worthing Health Education Centre, along with Chichester Medical Education Centre (CMEC) is managed by the Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) department and provides educational facilities for all doctors employed by Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and for local General Practitioners and GP Trainees.

Situated close to the Junior Doctors’ Mess the centre is fully equipped for all training requirements with the use of audio visual and multimedia equipment; it also incorporates the excellent health sciences library.

Worthing Hospital is home to a wealth of experience; pathology; learning and education. There are over 160 junior hospital doctors in approved training posts here and Worthing has a very popular Specialist Training Programme for General Practice.

Undergraduate medical students regularly come on attachment from Brighton and London medical schools and Worthing participates in a programme of teaching for American medical students.
