Recorded Consultation Assessment

The RCA replaced the CSA (Clinical Skills Assessment) exam in 2020 due to the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic. They are essentially the same exam except the RCA is assessed using consultation recordings (both audio and visual) you submit during a designated submission window. It can be ‘sat’ only during ST3 and it’s best approached once you are experienced seeing patients and confident holding succinct GP consultations, but nothing stops you preparing early on. The FourteenFish website has a consultation area that’s helpful for this Consult – FourteenFish

There are multiple courses available for this which are entirely optional. It is encouraged to prepare with colleagues but significant input will come from your GP supervisor.
