Philosophy of the Practice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The philosophy of the practice is to provide a very responsive service for patients and excellent clinical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Location<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The practice area encompasses the pleasant Berkshire town of Maidenhead and surrounding vicinity.  The town has a good shopping centre with restaurants, cafes, banks, cinemas and all the usual facilities.  Served by a main railway line from Paddington, with frequent fast trains into London.   Access to the M4 is only minutes away from the town centre and the M25 about 20 minutes drive away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cedars Surgery is located on the Wilderness Medical Centre site which also includes Claremont Surgery, The Park Pharmacy and Dental Practice.  All in their own premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Patients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are around 10,250 patients registered with the practice with a stable list size.  The area is relatively affluent and the practice population includes a mix of social classes with a few pockets of deprivation.  The practice is part of the Windsor, Ascot & Maidenhead Clinical Commissioning Group (WAM CCG) and our Practice Manager, Alan Mackay, is a member of the CCG Governing Body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The practice is open 08:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, with extended hours from 07:30 Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Premises<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The practice is located in a purpose-built, three-storey health centre built in the early 1990s near to the town centre.  There is private car parking for doctors and staff, and ample car parking for patients in an adjacent public car park.  The building is situated within a modern complex including a leisure and tenpin bowling centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ground floor of the premises consists of the reception and back office, two further offices, waiting room, four doctors rooms, kitchen and lift.  On the first floor, there are a further four doctors rooms, a waiting area, three nurses treatment rooms, a nurses office\/store room, and lift.   Stairs lead to the second floor and contain offices for practice and community nursing staff, a kitchen\/staffroom and a large meeting\/training room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Computing and Information Technology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The practice uses the EMIS LV clinical computer system with an upgrade to EMIS Web planned for March 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The practice is considered \u201cpaper light\u201d.  No paper notes are used in the consultation and all letters are scanned on to the computer and diagnoses are coded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
