{"id":4508,"date":"2021-01-29T11:58:00","date_gmt":"2021-01-29T11:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/reading\/?page_id=4508"},"modified":"2026-03-23T16:26:40","modified_gmt":"2026-03-23T16:26:40","slug":"appraisals","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/reading\/trainees\/appraisals\/","title":{"rendered":"Appraisals and revalidation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel is-style-panel-with-label\"><h3>Information related to appraisal post CCT<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When you complete your training you will need to update your status on the <a href=\"https:\/\/pcse.england.nhs.uk\/services\/performers-lists\/gp-performers\/gp-registrars-completing-training\">performers&#8217; list<\/a> from GP registrar to GP performer.  You also need to update the employment section to reflect where you are working and whether you are a salaried GP or partner.  If you are a locum you can just select a region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you are on the performers list you will be offered an appraisal within the first year of practice. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You should create a final <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcgp.org.uk\/mrcgp-exams\/wpba\/pdp\">PDP<\/a> at end of training (during your last <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcgp.org.uk\/mrcgp-exams\/wpba\/plans-reviews#esr\">ESR<\/a>), so that you have objectives that you can be appraised against in your first post-CCT appraisal. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>General information on the appraisal system and revalidation can be found on the  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/medical-revalidation\/doctors\/\">NHS England website<\/a> and there is useful information from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcgp.org.uk\/your-career\/revalidation\/supporting-information-guidance\">RCGP <\/a> on how to prepare for appraisal that you should have a look at.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel\"><h3>Revalidation and Appraisal during training<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<p>Resident doctors are revalidated every 5 years after full registration and they are revalidated again at CCT.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During training your ARCP acts as an appraisal and it is important that you complete a form R for each ARCP declaring any incidents, complaints or other investigations.
