{"id":3845,"date":"2013-11-28T23:04:25","date_gmt":"2013-11-28T23:04:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.readingvts.org\/?page_id=253"},"modified":"2025-10-13T11:59:46","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T10:59:46","slug":"directly-observer-procedures-dops","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/reading\/mrcgp\/mrcgp-resources\/directly-observer-procedures-dops\/","title":{"rendered":"Clinical Examination and Proceedural Skills Assessments (CEPS)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcgp.org.uk\/mrcgp-exams\/wpba\/ceps\">CEPS<\/a> are designed to provide evidence of your ability to examine a patient safely, appropriately and effectively &#8211; essential to the provision of good clinical care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CEPS can be assessed at any time throughout your training but can only be assessed by someone who is skilled in that particular examination or proceedure. There are 6 intimate examinations (breast, prostate, rectal, bimanual, speculum and male genital) in which you must demonstrate competence by the end of ST3.  There are also a range on non-intimate examinations including Respiratory system, Ear Nose and Throat, Abdominal system, Cardiovascular system, Musculoskeletal system, Neurological examination, Child 1- 5 years.
