The following is a model for an &#8220;average&#8221; trainee who has competed or is on track to complete all their assesments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel is-style-panel-with-label\"><h3>The Last 3 months<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<p>During this time the registrar must gain experience working as a fully independent practitioner doing full workload of a salaried doctor\/partner in the practice and to fully involve team in all business aspects of the practice as appropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the end of May they MUST have finished (for deanery panel and therefore cerification):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>WPBA &#8211; DOP&#8217;s, COT&#8217;s, CBD&#8217;s, PSQ, MSF<\/li><li>AKT<\/li><li>CSA<\/li><li>Final Educational supervisors report<\/li><li>OOH sessions (if completely impossible, 2 sessions booked by not physically done are acceptable- add an educators note with the dates of booked sessions in this instance)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The following are topics which it is typically helpful to discus during this period:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Work\/life balance<\/li><li>Finances<\/li><li>Medical Politics\/ Commissioning etc<\/li><li>Career Guidance<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It may also be useful to consider a visit to another practice\/practice swap with another trainee, preferably to a very different type of practice during this time.&nbsp; A list suggested activities for ST3s in the final months of&nbsp;training has been created by trainers on teh Reading and Newbury scheme&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/reading\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/74\/2014\/01\/Ideas-for-ST3-post-AKT-and-CSA.doc\" rel=\"\">Ideas for ST3 post AKT and CSA<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel is-style-panel-with-label\"><h3>Last month<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-40face1c-1690-42ec-8b70-8551974c7d8f\"><li>Once the final panel review has been done the trainee needs to apply for CCT- see trainee page&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rcgp.org.uk\/training-exams\/becoming-a-gp\/~\/link.aspx?_id=BF9B9CB2D566448D92840496DB367159&amp;_z=z\">Applying for CCT<\/a>. The timing of this is particularly crucial for trainees finishing at non standard times. Ensure they understand they cannot work in any capacity including as a locum until they have their CCT certificate<\/li><li>Discus and write reference<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel is-style-panel-with-label\"><h3>Last week<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-c2e27c49-c8e8-4967-bf81-883e06b286d6\"><li>Return any surgery books \/ CDRoms to library<\/li><li>Hand over patients<\/li><li>Delete old emails &#8211; auto reply to forward any new emails<\/li><li>Delete any old personal files from computer but leave training files!<\/li><li>Delete&nbsp;old recorded consultations<\/li><li>Shred any information identifying patients<\/li><li>Inform medical defence provider of intention when finished as GP registrar<\/li><li>&#8220;Exit interview&#8221; and written feedback for the practice<\/li><li>Say goodbyes- many practices will have a goodbye meal and\/or give the trainee a leaving gift<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel is-style-panel-with-label\"><h3>Last day<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-b441062a-a8f0-437c-92f2-d4d2a50fe91f\"><li>Hand in surgery keys<\/li><li>Hand in Doctors bag<\/li><li>Clear room of personal belongings and tidy up!<\/li><li>Have a relaxed wind down meeting &#8211; afternoon &#8211; lunch<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"nhsuk-card__description\">Naturally, every trainee&#8217;s learning needs will be different and therefore their final 3 months will be different.
