About Our Training Programme
Pennine GPST Scheme
Welcome to Pennine GPST scheme, where we have been delivering GP training for over 20 years. We have over 80 GP Specialty Trainees (GPSTs) on our scheme supported by over 34 Trainers, five Programme Directors and two administrators.
We offer innovative 6 month GP posts in ST1 and ST2 during which you can be released on a part time basis to experience a variety of specialties e.g. hospice care, dermatology, rheumatology etc.
We run a variety of courses and have an excellent reputation for preparing people for the CSA exit exam
Throughout your training we run a weekly half day release education programme which involves small group work and larger workshops exploring areas of the curriculum which are not covered by workplace based placement. In addition to its educational aspect it offers an opportunity to meet your colleagues, ‘chew the fat’ and compare experiences.
Our Training practices are situated in Calderdale and Kirklees offering GP placement in small town and rural settings. Furthermore, you have access to the rolling Pennine hills but remain close to the cities of Huddersfield, Halifax, Bradford, Leeds and Manchester with all that these super cities have to offer.
Sabbaticals
Yorkshire and the Humber encourages and supports general practice trainees to take time out from their training to do something different. Barnsley, Hull and the Pennine Training Programmes all offer a 12 month Out of Programme Experience in Whanganui in New Zealand or South Africa, which would take place after ST2.
Your flights will be reimbursed, your first 3 months of accommodation will be free and that you will get 1 month of free car hire for when you first arrive!
