Sumatriptan is the preferred triptan in pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NSAID use in chicken pox<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>James Harper, Chris Phillips, Tom Hutchinson<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P = Paediatric patients with varicella zoster<br>I = Use of NSAIDs<br>C = Use of placebo\/avoidance of NSAIDs<br>O = Development of secondary streptococcal skin infections<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Clinical bottom line: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Underlying mechanism exists to suggest NSAIDs decrease neutrophil function<\/li><li>Studies demonstrate an association between NSAID use in chickenpox and subsequent skin infections but not a causation.<\/li><li>Case for paracetamol as first line in chickenpox<\/li><li>Not enough to say avoid NSAIDS<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/98\/2021\/11\/chicken-pox.pptx\">Chicken pox [ppt]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Topical or oral treatment for vulvovagin acandidiasis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Helen Reay &amp; Kate Shipton<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P: Women with vulvovaginal candidiasis<br>I: Oral Fluconazole<br>C: Topical Clotrimazole (Pessary \u00b1 Cream)<br>O: Resolution of symptoms<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clinical bottom line:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Clinical outcomes not significantly different<\/li><li>Therefore cost and patient choice will influence prescribing practice<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/98\/2021\/11\/candidiasis.pptx\">Vulvovaginal Candidiasis<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Should we prescribe antibiotics for sore throat?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Gerald Clancy, Alice Young and Selina Soukup<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P = Sore throat in adults and children<br>I = antibiotic therapy<br>C = no antibiotics\/supportive therapy only<br>O =<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Primary \u2013 Duration of symptoms<\/li><li>Secondary \u2013 Suppurative complication (otitis media within 14 days, acute sinusitus within 14 days, quinsy within 2 months)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clinical bottom line:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Antibiotics shorten duration of symptoms by about 16 hours overall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"nhsuk-card__description\">Please find below a list of all GPEA projects to date, with PICOS, bottom lines and powerpoint attachments for those [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":0,"parent":2148,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-2227","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.0 -
