{"id":2209,"date":"2021-02-04T14:29:08","date_gmt":"2021-02-04T14:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/northoxfordshire\/?page_id=2209"},"modified":"2021-07-06T13:23:51","modified_gmt":"2021-07-06T12:23:51","slug":"emergency-medicine","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/northoxfordshire\/your-rotations\/hospital-rotations\/emergency-medicine\/","title":{"rendered":"Emergency Medicine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/northoxfordshire\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2021\/02\/ED-learning-outcomes-070415.pdf\">Learning Outcomes<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Job Summary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A&amp;E job.<\/li><li>You do a mixture of majors and minors<\/li><li>There is the opportunity to do procedures<\/li><li>There is very good senior support from registrars and consultants<\/li><li>There is a daily 4pm team meeting handover meeting<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Location(s)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Horton General Hospital, Banbury<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Shift pattern (lates\/nights\/weekends etc)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The rota follows a 1 in 6 pattern:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 1 &#8211; Monday-Thursday nights 2200-0830.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 2 &#8211; Monday, Tuesday early shifts 0800-1700, Wednesday zero day, Thursday late shift 1600-0100, Friday-Sunday nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 3 &#8211; Wednesday-Friday early shifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 4 &#8211; Monday, Tuesday late shift, Wednesday, Thursday zero days, Friday-Sunday late shifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 5 &#8211; Monday zero day, Tuesday-Friday early shifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 6 &#8211; Monday-Thursday late shifts, Friday mid shift 1200-2200.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top tips for extra opportunities (e.g. teaching \/ skills )<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lots of teaching including protected trainee teaching every week Friday mornings 9-12am which includes ED, paediatrics and radiology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Highlights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Well supported emergency unit<\/li><li>A nice environment to work in, very sociable<\/li><li>Scrubs provided<\/li><li>The rota coordinators are really flexible and helpful in organising leave<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Usually a high intensity of work<\/li><li>The rota can be tiring if you don&#8217;t use your leave effectively!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The details are correct at the time of writing but are subject to change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"nhsuk-card__description\">Learning Outcomes Job Summary A&amp;E job.
