Deddington Health Centre

Trainer – Dr Martyn Chambers

Introduction

Join our welcoming team committed to delivering high quality, compassionate care to our rural community of 12,500 patients. Our state-of-the-art practice in the picturesque village of Deddington provides a friendly and inclusive space for both our team and patients. Our staff’s wellbeing is a top priority, as we believe that happy employees deliver exceptional care. That’s why we’ve established a “Sanctuary,” a cosy spot where you can connect over scheduled coffee and enjoy treats during your workday. On sunny days, you can enjoy a drink and chat in our secluded garden. We also organise enjoyable social events to help our staff relax, along with comprehensive wellbeing reviews. As animal lovers, we celebrate all furry friends, whether they’re dogs, horses, or any other creatures – although owning a pet is by no means a requirement to join our team!

Staff

Our highly skilled team of General Practitioners offer excellent generalist care alongside expertise in Dermatology/Skin Cancer, Diabetes, ENT, Minor Surgery, Musculoskeletal Medicine/Joint Injection, Respiratory Medicine, and Women’s Health.

In addition we are lucky to work with a range of other dedicated professionals, such as Practice Nurses specializing in Diabetes and Respiratory Disease, a Paramedic and ANP specialising in Acute Care, Pharmacy Technicians, a Clinical Pharmacist, a First Contact Physiotherapist, a MIND Wellbeing Worker, and exceptional Nursing Associate and Phlebotomy teams.

Our efficient team of operational staff help ensure that everything runs smoothly and that non-clinical tasks are taken away from clinicians. In addition, we have worked extensively to remove routine clinical tasks from GPs to allow them to focus on the complex cases they are trained for.

Training

We’ve had the privilege of training a diverse range of healthcare professionals, including GPs, medical students, clinical pharmacists, student nurses, paramedics, and pharmacy technicians and have supported GPs through fellowship and retainer schemes. Our extensive experience has instilled a deep understanding of the value of continuous learning and effective mentoring in our entire team.

As part of our commitment to professional development, we offer regular mentorship sessions to all newly qualified GPs during their first year as we understand that training doesn’t finish when you complete ST3. Alongside this, weekly clinical meetings include learning bites, safeguarding discussions and multi-disciplinary team meetings with palliative care and health visiting teams ensuring that you never feel unsupported with challenging issues.

The GP Trainer, Martyn Chambers, is also a fully accredited GP with Extended Role in Dermatology and Skin Cancer offering you a unique opportunity to train in general Dermatology, Dermoscopy and Minor Surgery alongside your GP training should you wish to do so.
