We hope you\u2019re looking forward to your GP training programme as much as we are looking forward to helping you along the way. Remember: the scheme has a GP administrator and several Training Programme Directors that you can call upon.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

5 things to do as soon as you join a scheme\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
1. Register with the RCGP <\/strong><\/span><\/summary>

– Do this ASAP.<\/p>

– To register online, click here<\/a>.<\/p>

– There is an enquiry line for AiTs (email ait@rcgp.org.uk<\/a> or telephone 020 7344 3078) for any registration queries.<\/p><\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

2. Get hold of your rota <\/strong><\/span><\/summary>

Contact your TPDs and get your rota so that you find out the details of your first post.  <\/strong>Then contact that post and see exactly what is going to happen on your first and subsequent few days. <\/p><\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

3. If your first post is in GP, make sure you are on something called the Supplementary List<\/strong> <\/span><\/summary>

Ask your TPD or Practice Manager of the GP Training Practice ASAP if you don\u2019t know what this means. <\/p><\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

4. We recommend getting extra protection from a medical defence organisation<\/strong> <\/span><\/summary>

In GP and Hospital posts, you are to some extent covered by the Indemnity offered by the NHS. However, you may end up doing (without realising it) other professional activities which may not be covered by the NHS Indemnity. So, if you want peace of mind, we strongly recommend additional cover through membership of a recognised medical defence organisation or insurer for these purposes. <\/p><\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

5. Note the dates of the GP Training Scheme\u2019s induction & book the leave<\/strong> <\/span><\/summary>

If you don\u2019t know when your GP scheme\u2019s induction is \u2013 email your GP scheme administrator. When you have got your dates for your GP TRAINING SCHEME\u2019S induction, don\u2019t forget to  book that time as study leave with your first post.  PLEASE TELL THEM AND  BOOK IT IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE \u2013 they will not automatically know.   <\/p><\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

There are TWO Inductions you will receive<\/h3>
\n
The first is an induction to your post<\/strong> <\/span><\/summary>

Either a GP post based induction or a hospital specialty based induction.  These will help you settle into your new specific ST1 post. <\/p><\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

The second induction will be that organised by your GP TRAINING SCHEME.<\/strong>  <\/span><\/summary>

The aim of  this induction is to provide a sort of orientation session where you understand THE WHOLE of your GP training pathway and journey (and all the requirements, including exams).  <\/p><\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

You need to attend both.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
