{"id":1917,"date":"2021-02-08T16:10:05","date_gmt":"2021-02-08T16:10:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/manchester\/?page_id=1917"},"modified":"2021-02-10T13:54:42","modified_gmt":"2021-02-10T13:54:42","slug":"south-manchester-st12s","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/manchester\/programmes\/south-manchester-st12s\/","title":{"rendered":"South Manchester ST1&#038;2s"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The GP training programme runs a half day release course that is aimed to supplement and inform in practice and on the job training.&nbsp; the aim is to prepare you for the AKT and ensure an excellent primary health care team of the future.&nbsp; Learning with your peers, team working and leadership are core themes throughout.&nbsp; Your trainers and local expert resources may be used from time to time to ensure that the course has a broad content to meet your needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course will mainly be small group learning.&nbsp; the groups ensure that every one can participate and acts as resources for each other.&nbsp; Learning with your colleagues is a much more interesting and stimulating experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting to the teaching can be problematic.&nbsp; As a GP Specialist Trainee, the GP teaching should take priority over the other departmental training.&nbsp; There must be flexibility here for mandatory and essential training for each specialty.&nbsp; This might include Paediatric Life Support training and CTG training in Obs &amp; Gynae.&nbsp; As such, non-attendance, no-participation and&nbsp;failure to prepare will disrupt the group function and effectiveness and therefore reduced the educational experience.&nbsp;&nbsp; A genuine commitment from each and every one involved will ensure its success.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please email <a href=\"mailto:Josephine.Galligan@MFT.nhs.uk\">Joesphine Galligan<\/a> if you know you cannot attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel is-style-panel-with-label\"><h3>What&#8217;s it like in different specialties?<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<p>Click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.manchester-gptraining.org.uk\/fileadmin\/user_upload\/documents\/What_s_it_like_in_UHSM.pdf\">here <\/a> <span class=\"has-inline-color has-emergency-red-color\">(File not found)<\/span> to read current trainees views and experiences whilst on placement in different specialties at UHSM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-nhsbutton alignright nhsuk-button\"><\/a>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel is-style-panel-with-label\"><h3>Educational Job Descriptions &#8211; getting the most out of your secondary care placements for GP<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<p>These are a useful resource for thinking about your PDPs.&nbsp;&nbsp; Some questions you might like to think about are:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What do you want to get out of the placement?&nbsp;<\/li><li>What is most useful for my future career as a GP?&nbsp;<\/li><li>Do I have any knowledge gaps?&nbsp;<\/li><li>What community clinics do they provide?&nbsp;<\/li><li>Are there any specialist services to get to know about?&nbsp;<\/li><li>How do I make a referral to this specialty?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>What is an appropriate referral?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you are a GP, knowing who you are talking to at the end of the telephone helps enormously and will aid you with managing cases in primary care without the need for a formal referral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Link to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/manchester\/like-to-train-here\/how-is-it-delivered\/\">Job Description documents<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<a class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-nhsbutton alignright nhsuk-button\"><\/a>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel is-style-panel-with-label\"><h3>Information re UHSM<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<p><strong>Parking <\/strong>&#8211; Whilst on placement at UHSM your ID badge also allows access to the staff car parking area (known as Jurassic).&nbsp;&nbsp; Trainees not at UHSM will be given a windscreen notice which allows all day parking in visitor car parking areas at the minimum charge rate (<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-nhsbutton alignright nhsuk-button\"><\/a>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"nhsuk-card__description\">The GP training programme runs a half day release course that is aimed to supplement and inform in practice and [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":0,"parent":73,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-1917","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
