Central & South Manchester GPST Programme
This scheme is based in Central and South Manchester. GP posts will normally be in a Central or South Manchester practice. The hospital component is delivered in Manchester Royal Infirmary and Wythenshawe Hospital with some posts at North Manchester General & The Christie Hospital.
ST1/2/3 GP attachments will normally be in a Central or South Manchester practice.
Manchester is a great place to train; just about every permutation of professional and personal life can be catered for. There is a great range of General Practices from inner city high density living, to more relaxed suburbs with complex family networks.
The Manchester scene is a major attraction for doctors in training. Cultural and sporting experiences are easily accessible, diverse and entertaining. This makes for a satisfying personal life when not working.
Many of the doctors who train in this area become General Practitioners and supervisors locally.
New Trainees
Have you just joined the GP training Scheme? ….Welcome! We’re sure you’ll have a great time, learn and develop in ways you would hardly have imagined. It’s worth trying to make the best impression you can in the first few days of the post, eg friendliness, interest in the job and all your colleagues at every level, willingness to work hard, willingness to listen to instructions and advice. A little extra effort in the first few days is likely to be really worthwhile.
Hopefully you can find lots of useful information, guidance and resources on the website.
