This is a weekly programme of education usually held at the local Postgraduate Centre.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Venue<\/strong>: Field House, Bradford Royal Infrimary<\/li><li><strong>When<\/strong>: Tuesday afternoons<\/li><li><strong>Time<\/strong>: 2pm &#8211; 4.45pm<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p> All our trainees (i.e. GP and hospital based) are expected to attend for the whole afternoon at least<strong> 80% of the time.<\/strong> We have asked the consultants to release those in hospital posts as this is a compulsory part of your training, and remember to sign the register! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel is-style-panel-with-label\"><h3>The Current Programme<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>22nd May 2019 &#8211; Ethics &#8211; Lucy Clark<\/li><li>29th May 2019 &#8211; Professional Values &#8211; Gareth James<\/li><li>1st June 2019 &#8211; Transcultural Medicine &#8211; Jess Keeble<\/li><li>7th June 2019 &#8211; LGBTQ issues &#8211; Lucy Clark<\/li><li>12th June 2019 &#8211; Presentations 1 &#8211; prep &#8211; Abid Iqbal<\/li><li>17th June 2019 &#8211; Presentations 2 &#8211; prep &#8211; Abid Iqbal<\/li><li>21st June 2019 &#8211; Actual Presentations &#8211; Abid Iqbal<\/li><li>30th June 2019 &#8211; Creative Arts session &#8211; Lucy Clark<\/li><li>7 July 2019 &#8211; Preparing for AKT &#8211; Jess Keeble<\/li><li>14th July &#8211; Preparing for CSA &#8211; Gareth James<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel is-style-panel-with-label\"><h3>Type of Session<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<p>Most session involve small group work, each facilitated by either a Programme Director, Trainer, Intending Trainer, or a combination thereof.    We hope the groups will create a safe space in which difficult or uncomfortable issues can be discussed in confidence. It is always okay for the group to decide to change the agenda and deal with an urgent problem raised by a member.  <br><br>These are skills for your lifelong learning, and for life in general practice.  Many will have relevance to the AKT and CSA exam.    <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/imperial\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2019\/08\/HDR.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-370\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/imperial\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2019\/08\/HDR.jpg 500w, https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/imperial\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2019\/08\/HDR-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-white-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>There are three types of session frequently used in the Half Day Release course:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-reveal1 nhsuk-details is-style-downarrow\"><summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\"><strong>Structured Sessions<\/strong><\/span><\/summary><div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\" id=\"details-content-\" aria-hidden=\"false\"><p>Sometimes using an external resource &#8211; in which we aim to explore important areas of General Practice \u2018beyond the textbooks\u2019, which you may otherwise not meet in everyday practice, nor cover in topic based tutorials. <\/p><\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-reveal1 nhsuk-details is-style-downarrow\"><summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\"><strong>Presentations<\/strong><\/span><\/summary><div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\" id=\"details-content-\" aria-hidden=\"false\"><p>Which involve subgroups of 6-8 people who explore a topic\/theme by looking at the literature, visiting community based projects or NHS services, contacting local experts etc. They then give a presentation to the whole group. By doing these sessions you develop presentation and teaching skills as well as exploring subjects in new ways. <\/p><\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-reveal1 nhsuk-details\"><summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\"> <strong>Open Group Work<\/strong> <\/span><\/summary><div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\" id=\"details-content-\" aria-hidden=\"false\"><p>Sessions including case discussions (which may include video), \u2018hot topics\u2019 and Problem-Based Learning (PBL). PBL sessions \u2013 these small group sessions involve the exploration of a case scenario, with each stage raising different issues for discussion. Group members choose aspects to go away and research, and bring their findings back the following week. These types of sessions will certainly help you when it comes to doing the MRCGP case based discussions. <\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-panel1 nhsuk-panel is-style-panel-with-label\"><h3>Evaluation<\/h3><div class=\"paneltext\">\n<p>The Training Programme Directors welcome feedback at any stage, in person or by e-mail. As well as contributing to the formal evaluation sessions, it is very helpful if, at the end of each small group session, you leave five minutes for evaluation. Please give this some genuine thought so that we can enhance the future development of the course. If you feel something was good or bad, please tell us specifically what made it that way.
