About our training programme<\/h3>
\n

The scheme is run by our educational team. The team includes the Exeter GP Trainers, whose role is largely one to one teaching in the practice, five Training Programme Directors and our Associate Dean. Together, we are responsible for delivering the educational programme to help our trainees to become GPs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The overall training programme is directed centrally by Health Education England. Our deanery consistently receives some of the best feedback and exam pass rates in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet the Team – The Exeter and East Devon Training Scheme<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training programme <\/h3>
\n

\u2022 A three-year UK GP training programme<\/strong> designed to lead to qualification as a General Practitioner. At least one year is spent in General Practice placements<\/strong>, with the remainder in relevant hospital or community rotations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u2022 Year 1<\/strong> is typically spent in a series of 6-month hospital posts<\/strong> (e.g., medicine, paediatrics, emergency medicine).<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u2022 Year 2<\/strong> includes a mix of community and General Practice placements<\/strong>, including possible Integrated Training Posts (ITPs)<\/strong> that combine GP work with specialties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u2022 Year 3<\/strong> is mostly in a GP training practice<\/strong>, offering supervised clinical experience in everyday general practice settings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/a>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why would you want to train in Exeter<\/h3>

As well as a wonderful GP training experience, Exeter is enviably positioned with access to the beautiful beaches, dramatic moorland, rolling countryside and a range of cultural opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our coast is a dream for surfers, sailors, divers and anybody else who enjoys getting wet in or on the sea. With lots of schools and clubs there are lots of opportunities for complete beginners and for those preferring dry feet the entire coastline has a footpath around it offering 630 miles of exploring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exeter City Centre is thriving and growing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a good theatre, cinemas, and the Phoenix and Corn Exchange are venues for touring bands and comedy shows.
The University of Exeter Medical School offers academic opportunities from research, postgraduate qualifications and the opportunity to do some teaching at one of the top universities in the country.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
