Dr Will Edney – Associate Director<\/h3>

I work as a GP in a rural practice at the Mid Devon Medical Practice. I did my medical training in Leicester before I made the move to the southwest to undertake my GP training. After a year of Locuming I took up my partnership in 2012. I started working as a TPD in Exeter in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my three children and enjoying the great Devon Countryside. I like mountain biking, walking, running and attempting watersports.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr Megan Griffiths – Training Programme Director<\/h3>

I work as a salaried GP at Ide Lane Surgery. I did my medical training in Cardiff then spent some time working in New Zealand before moving to Exeter for my GP training. I qualified in 2019. I started working as a TPD in January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out of work I am kept busy with my 4 and 1 year old but also try to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful beaches and countryside that Devon has to offer! I also enjoy baking and am an unskilled but enthusiastic gardener.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr Hannah Claxton – Training Programme Director<\/h3>

I qualified as a GP in 2021 and split my time between clinical work as a salaried GP at St Thomas Health Centre in Exeter and educational roles working with the VTS, PCNs and medical students. I went to university in Glasgow and was lured down to the South West by the weather and lifestyle for Foundation training\u2026 and just never left! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of work you can mostly find me renovating a dilapidated house in the Devon countryside and being a chauffeur to the social events of my small children. When time allows you\u2019ll happily find me on the beach or out running with our gorgeous but long-suffering cocker spaniel Ruby.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr Ed Fitzherbert – Training Programme Director<\/h3>

I am a GP Partner and GP Trainer at Amicus Health in Tiverton. I did my medical and GP training in Cambridge, before taking up my partnership in Tiverton in 2003. I have been a TPD since 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my spare time I enjoy transporting my teenage children to their sporting commitments, playing tennis and cricket and trying to walk the lazy family patterjack terrier.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr Claire Evans – Training Programme Director <\/h3>

I am a salaried GP at St Thomas Health Centre in Exeter. I studied Medical Sciences in Nottingham before going on to do postgraduate Medicine at St George’s, University of London. After spending some time working in Poole and then New Zealand, I ended up here in Exeter and haven’t looked back! I qualified as a GP in 2022 and started work as a TPD in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of work I play netball and enjoy running and art. As well as, of course, spending time with my young family and enjoying the Devon coast and countryside!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/a>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr Brian Taylor – Training Programme Director<\/h3>

I am a GP partner in Budleigh Salterton having completed my GP training in 2015. I previously studied physiology and pharmacology in Leicester before going on to studying postgraduate Medicine at Warwick in 2006. Having grown up in East Devon I was keen to return here with my wife and children to do my foundation training.  I started working as a TPD in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of work I can be found in the sea enjoying cold water swimming all year round. I am married with 4 kids and love family life and as a family we love exploring the world by travelling as much as we can.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Beth Hookins – Programme Manager<\/h3>

I started working for the NHS at the start of 2015 and worked as the GPST Administrator at TSDFT from 2017 – 2021. In November 2021 I started working for the Exeter & East Devon VTS as the GPST Manager and haven’t looked back! Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family & reading my kindle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adam Long – Programme Coordinator<\/h3>

I have been working with the GPVTS team since March 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also coordinate the Specialty Training Programme for the Post Graduate Medical Education department based in the RILD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of work I have my hands full with a toddler and dog and try to keep them both busy with long walks on the beach. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
