If this isn&#8217;t right, then let us know!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re new to ST3, this email should hopefully explain what happens on Wednesdays. If you&#8217;ve been doing ST3 already, please still read as we have made a significant change to how the day will look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wednesdays are Bolton&#8217;s educational day. Those of you who are full-time will have 8 hours educational time on a Wednesday in your job plan. Instead of having to deal with the general public and a never-ending EMIS\/SystmOne loading screen you get to come and spend the day at the Education Centre developing your GP skills!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of the information you need will be on <a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/bolton\/teaching-programmes\/st3-programme\/\">the website<\/a> but you can ask us other things before sessions begin as we&#8217;re usually there from 0900.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The day is split into two sessions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mornings (0915 &#8211; 1245) are for whole group sessions. Everyone should attend.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Afternoons (1330-1630) are for smaller group sessions. Certain groups will attend.<\/strong>Afternoon sessions will now be more structured, with a series of group discussion workshops that may require advance preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can see the timetable here: <a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/bolton\/teaching-programmes\/st3-programme\/\">The Day Release Course for ST3 GP Trainees &#8211; Bolton GP Training Hub<\/a>. The dates won&#8217;t change but sometimes the topic may have to due to a change in speaker schedules. Please attend on time so as not to disrupt the session and demonstrate the professionalism expected of a GP. Sessions begin promptly at 0930 and arrival from 0931 onwards will not be recorded so we advise aiming to arrive by 0915.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As resident doctors are paid their standard wage for Wednesdays, attendance is expected unless appropriate leave has bene applied for.&nbsp; The educators and education centre staff cannot authorise leave or approve partial attendance. Annual leave should include educational sessions in the same 30\/70 split used for creating your working week. You can read our full attendance policy here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/bolton\/trainers\/structured-teaching-programme-attendance-policy-2\/\">Structured Teaching Programme Attendance Policy &#8211; Bolton GP Training Hub<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Less-Than-Full-Time resident doctors (LTFT RDs) should keep a running log of their hours to ensure that attendance matches what expected over the entirety of their ST3 training period. Many LTFT RDs choose to attend full sessions in the initial ST3 timeframe, and then claim back the additional time in lieu at the end of their training. Some will choose to attend selected sessions over the entire period of their ST3. You <em>could<\/em> attend 60-70-80% of each session but that would be weird. Make it work for you \ud83d\ude42&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lastly, please use the Deanery exam support resources at: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwpgmd.nhs.uk\/GP\/sca-resources\">https:\/\/www.nwpgmd.nhs.uk\/GP\/sca-resources<\/a> &nbsp;and consider doing the 5-minute<a href=\"https:\/\/leademployer.merseywestlancs.nhs.uk\/how-to-support-neurodiversity-in-the-workplace\"> screening check for dyslexia<\/a> (important to know before applying to AKT\/SCA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-nhs-light-green-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>All resident doctors should attend on Wednesday 26<\/strong><sup><strong>th<\/strong><\/sup><strong>&nbsp;August for the first session; we&#8217;ll be doing induction for new ST3s and some activities with the existing ST3s.
