Please bring any materials and case ideas. It&#8217;s worth bringing a tablet\/laptop so you can look up information easily during the sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;the afternoon, we want you to start work on your teaching presentations which you&#8217;ll share with the whole group on 26\/11 and 3\/12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-nhs-light-blue-background-color has-background has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td>26 Nov<\/td><td>How to\u2026 Leadership, Prescribing &amp; ST3 WBPA<\/td><td>How to\u2026 Leadership, Prescribing &amp; ST3 WBPA<\/td><td><strong>ST3-Led Session:<br>Presentations 1<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>3 Dec<\/td><td>Focussed Clinical Examinations<\/td><td>Focussed Clinical Examinations<\/td><td><strong>ST3-Led Session: Presentations 2<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the guidelines for your presentations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your presentation should be no more than 5 minutes in length<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you choose to use slides, there should be no more than 7 slides, plus an introduction slide<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The topic of your presentation is up to you entirely, under the banner of\u00a0<strong>&#8220;I think other GP trainees should know that&#8230;&#8221;<\/strong>. You can choose a medical, or non-medical topic. \u00a0Here are some ideas\/examples:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>NICE guidance on management of a condition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Healthcare in the country I was born in<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>My favourite foods and what health conditions they harm\/help<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A case study of an interesting patient<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An audit, QIP or project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Someone who inspires me<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How I relax after a hard day as a GP<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A journal review<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What I&#8217;ve learned from being a parent\/carer myself<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consultation skills of other professions (hairdressers, plumbers, customer service agents)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to get the most out of non-GP placements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community services in your area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5 minutes is short, so pick something very specific.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The best topics are ones that matter to you personally, so\u00a0 a personal insight, a memory when you suddenly realised something, or something you really care about are great starting points.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The aim of the sessions is to get used to presenting to a group, and also how to chair sessions and give feedback.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We&#8217;ll expect everyone to present, and there may be some prizes along the way&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, as a reminder to all resident doctors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We carefully craft the teaching sessions to meet curriculum areas for CCT, and are very open to feedback about changes that RDs suggest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attendance at the Wednesday teaching is considered mandatory by the Deanery and ARCP panels, unless appropriate leave has been taken (eg. annual, study or sick leave)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/leademployer.merseywestlancs.nhs.uk\/attendance-management--absence\">contracted salary<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/leademployer.merseywestlancs.nhs.uk\/attendance-management--absence\">\u00a0<\/a>is based on set amounts of time in clinical\/educational activity. Failure to adhere to these technically constitutes\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cfa.nhs.uk\/fraud-prevention\/reference-guide\/nhscfa-thematic-fraud-areas\/NHS-staff-fraud\">NHS wage fraud<\/a>, for which there are severe financial and professional consequences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Neither Kat, Seb, Lisa or Carole can exempt you from teaching in part or in whole; this is the remit of your ES and the ARC panel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Attendance means &#8220;Present at the advertised start time, engaged in the session, and departing at the advertised session end time&#8221;.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To\u00a0progress through ARCP resident doctors should display the level of professionalism required of a GP.
