{"id":35,"date":"2013-10-04T13:31:21","date_gmt":"2013-10-04T13:31:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/boltongptraining.org.uk\/?page_id=35"},"modified":"2026-01-03T17:02:56","modified_gmt":"2026-01-03T17:02:56","slug":"st2-programme","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/bolton\/teaching-programmes\/st2-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Year 2 GP Trainee (ST2) Teaching Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"218\" height=\"220\" src=\"http:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/bolton\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2020\/10\/GPST2icon-218x220.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1987\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/bolton\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2020\/10\/GPST2icon-218x220.png 218w, https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/bolton\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2020\/10\/GPST2icon-198x200.png 198w, https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/bolton\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2020\/10\/GPST2icon.png 515w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 218px) 100vw, 218px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In ST2, trainees will experience a mixture of placements, both hospital and community\/GP-based.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To support this we run two separate teaching programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During one <strong>GP\/GP+ post<\/strong>, trainees will attend a fortnightly <a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/bolton\/teaching-programmes\/st2-programme\/communication-skills-training-in-st2\/\">communications skills course<\/a>, run by an experienced Bolton-based group of GP Trainers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the whole year, <strong>all<\/strong> trainees will attend a fortnightly <a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/bolton\/teaching-programmes\/st2-programme\/gp-st2-structured-teaching-programme\/\">education session<\/a>, which will feature a largely clinically-based set of topics with a focus on developing clinical excellence related to primary care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t matter which order you attend ST2A and ST2B &#8211; the content in the two semesters don&#8217;t overlap.
