GP ST3 Teaching: Wednesday 25th September
Hi all,
Next week’s teaching is different depending on whether you started ST3 in September, or whether you have been doing it longer.
Please note that due to ongoing redevelopment work in the education centre, there is no timetabled afternoon session (which is a change from what previously advertised). We advise you use the afternoon to reflect on the morning session with each other and consider role-play/discussion based on your experiences.
If you started ST3 in September 2024:
You will be doing the “Mock SCA” with Kat.
During the session you will role play a case as an actor for your colleagues, and will also have the opportunity to be the doctor. The aim of the session is to try video consulting and get used to the idea of the stamina required for the SCA. There is no time for feedback in these sessions, although you are welcome to share with each other after the session if you wish. Please prepare a case for your colleagues: we find role-playing a patient you have seen if often easiest.
Please ensure you download the Zoom app for the best experience. Ideally, this session works better on a computer/laptop/tablet, so please try to set up in advance. We recommend logging on at 0900 to ensure things are working well. Kat would ask that you are logged in at 0915 so she can start allocation of the cases and breakout rooms.
The session will start at 0930 promptly, meaning if you are late, you may not be able to join the session. This is due to the highly complex organisation needed to run the session.
Joining details are below:
Topic: SCA mock exam practice for ST3
Time: Sep 25, 2024 09:15 AM London
Meeting ID: 476 467 5099
Passcode: GPST
If you started ST3 teaching prior to September 2024, and/or if you have already passed the SCA:
Please attend the Education Centre for parts 1 & 2 of the “Trainee to GP” course (formerly Advanced Consultation Skills).
This session will begin at 0930 so I would request that you attend from 0900 in time to get a drink and catch-up chat. We will be finished by 1230 in order to allow the room to be set up for the Foundation Teaching.
Attendance registers for both sessions will be taken at 0930.
Lastly, this is the first time we’ve tried to email with a new mailing list system, so please check on your colleagues to see if they got this, and let us know if not!
