{"id":2170,"date":"2021-01-25T16:24:23","date_gmt":"2021-01-25T16:24:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/blackpool\/?page_id=2170"},"modified":"2021-01-26T12:08:08","modified_gmt":"2021-01-26T12:08:08","slug":"trauma-and-orthopaedics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/blackpool\/doctors-in-training\/foundation-trainees\/programme\/trauma-and-orthopaedics\/","title":{"rendered":"Trauma and Orthopaedics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery covers the Fylde Coast and has 3 dedicated Charnley Theatres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Trainee will participate in the general surgical 24hr shift system of acute cover and have the opportunity to gain experience in:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Venous cannulation and setting up of infusion<\/li><li>Principles of critical care<\/li><li>Catheterization of the patient<\/li><li>Basic surgical skills<\/li><li>Joint injection skills<\/li><li>Post-take ward rounds<\/li><li>Daily trauma meetings<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Plus, the opportunity to attend:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Outpatient sessions<\/li><li>Theatre<\/li><li>Trauma lists<\/li><li>Journal Clubs (monthly)<\/li><li>Research Meetings<\/li><li>Audit meetings<\/li><li>Attendance at the mandatory\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/blackpool\/doctors-in-training\/foundation-trainees\/teaching\/\">Foundation Teaching Programme<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"nhsuk-card__description\">The Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery covers the Fylde Coast and has 3 dedicated Charnley Theatres.
