{"id":2158,"date":"2021-01-25T15:56:37","date_gmt":"2021-01-25T15:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/blackpool\/?page_id=2158"},"modified":"2021-01-26T12:06:28","modified_gmt":"2021-01-26T12:06:28","slug":"general-medicine","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/blackpool\/doctors-in-training\/foundation-trainees\/programme\/general-medicine\/","title":{"rendered":"General Medicine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Department of Medicine employs 18 Physicians and deals with around 45 \u2013 50 emergency admissions per day through the purpose built AMU, based adjacent to the Accident and Emergency department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department is split into 7 Sub-Specilaties:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Endocrinology\/Diabetes<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfwh.nhs.uk\/our-services\/hospital-services\/care-of-the-older-person\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Care of the\u00a0Older Person<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfwh.nhs.uk\/our-services\/hospital-services\/dermatology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dermatology<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfwh.nhs.uk\/our-services\/hospital-services\/rheumatology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rheumatology<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfwh.nhs.uk\/our-services\/hospital-services\/gastroenterology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gastroenterology<\/a><\/li><li>Respiratory<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfwh.nhs.uk\/our-services\/hospital-services\/haematology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Haematology<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each sub-specialty has middle grade support staff and a full compliment of Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Modern Matrons. The Directorate also has a Nurse Consultant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Junior Medical staff within FY1\/FY2 Training Programme will undertake duties as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Participation in Unselected Medical Admissions Shift Patterns:45\u201350 per day with Middle Grade supervision.<\/li><li>Formulation of care plans and management of patients admitted under Ward Team.<\/li><li>Draw up treatment\/investigation plans for approval by senior staff.<\/li><li>Rolling programme for FY1\/FY2 trainees<\/li><li>Medical Directorate teaching.<\/li><li>Directorate Audit Meeting and Mortality Review<\/li><li>Attendance at the mandatory\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/blackpool\/doctors-in-training\/foundation-trainees\/teaching\/\">Foundation Teaching Programme<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"nhsuk-card__description\">The Department of Medicine employs 18 Physicians and deals with around 45 \u2013 50 emergency admissions per day through the [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":0,"parent":1973,"menu_order":19,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-2158","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
