{"id":2105,"date":"2021-01-22T16:02:04","date_gmt":"2021-01-22T16:02:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/blackpool\/?page_id=2105"},"modified":"2021-01-26T12:03:25","modified_gmt":"2021-01-26T12:03:25","slug":"ent","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/blackpool\/doctors-in-training\/foundation-trainees\/programme\/ent\/","title":{"rendered":"ENT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfwh.nhs.uk\/our-services\/hospital-services\/ear-nose-and-throat-ent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ENT Department<\/a>\u00a0has 4 Consultant Surgeons who specialise in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Major ear surgery&nbsp;<em>(including Mastoidectomy, Tympanoplasty, Myringoplasty)<\/em><\/li><li>Hearing improvement surgery&nbsp;<em>(Ossiculoplasty)<\/em><\/li><li>BAHA&nbsp;<em>(bone anchored hearing aids \u2013 abutment and magnetic)<\/em><\/li><li>Nose operations&nbsp;<em>(including Septoplasty, endoscopic sinus surgery)<\/em><\/li><li>Facial Cosmetic Surgery&nbsp;<em>(facial skin lesions, Rhinoplasty, Pinnaplasty)<\/em><\/li><li>Endonasal Dacryocystorhinostomy&nbsp;<em>(DCR\u2019s)&nbsp;<\/em>for blocked lacrimal duct<\/li><li>Thyroid surgery<\/li><li>Head &amp; Neck surgery&nbsp;<em>(including surgery for head &amp; neck cancer, partoid and submandinular gland surgery)<\/em><\/li><li>Paediatric ENT surgery<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The ENT department is very active in research and audits, with all trainees encouraged to complete and present at least one QI project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ENT Consultants provide career guidance and support to build up your CV for CT and ST3 jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The trainees will undertake duties as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Attend general out-patient clinics and also specialty clinics<\/li><li>Training in simple operative procedures<\/li><li>Exposure to more complex ENT surgeries<\/li><li>Pre and post-operative care of ENT patients<\/li><li>Attendance at Directorate Teaching<\/li><li>Attendance at mandatory FY teaching<\/li><li>Attendance at Directorate Audit<\/li><li>Participation in on call shift system\u00a0<em>(ENT and Orthopaedic cross cover out of hours)<\/em><\/li><li>Attendance at the mandatory\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gp-training.hee.nhs.uk\/blackpool\/doctors-in-training\/foundation-trainees\/teaching\/\">Foundation Teaching Programme<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nhsblocks-quote1 nhsuk-inset-text\"><span class=\"nhsuk-u-visually-hidden\">Quote \/ Testimonial: <\/span><div class=\"nhsuk-inset-text__quote\"><p><em>\u201cExcellent department with a strong focus on training their trainees.\u00a0 Ample opportunities for interdisciplinary learning, involvement in audit and gaining procedural experience.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/div><span class=\"nhsuk-inset-text__quote-attribution\"><strong>Former FY trainee<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"nhsuk-card__description\">The\u00a0ENT Department\u00a0has 4 Consultant Surgeons who specialise in: Major ear surgery&nbsp;(including Mastoidectomy, Tympanoplasty, Myringoplasty) Hearing improvement surgery&nbsp;(Ossiculoplasty) BAHA&nbsp;(bone anchored hearing [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":0,"parent":1973,"menu_order":16,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-2105","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
