Mike graduated from Westminster Medical School and following registration joined Northwick Park Hospital GP Training Scheme. He became a partner in his practice in Edgware in 1982 which was already an established GP training practice. He became a GP Trainer himself and then combined this with becoming a Training Programme Director on the Edgware Scheme. Subsequent to Edgware Hospital ceasing to function as a district hospital, the Edgware Scheme joined up with Barnet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike has always been interested in medical journalism and was a regular contributor to Pulse and GP Magazines. He has encouraged the development of journalistic skills for Barnet trainees with the introduction of \u2018The Murmur\u2019 which is published three times a year. In 2018, he was the co-author of \u2018What\u2019s Wrong With Me?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While he was a GP trainee, he became particularly interested in dermatology and realised that skin problems were a common reason for consultation. He taught 4th<\/sup>year medical students while he was in practice and was the Barnet CCG lead for skin disease, culminating in the introduction of teledermatology in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since retiring from full-time practice, he continued to carry out day-time patient visiting and worked in urgent and unscheduled care alongside GP Registrars. More recently, he has become an ARCP Panel Chair which has enabled him to maintain his knowledge of the requirements set for the trainee portfolio and the standards required by the RCGP.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr Anisha Sodha<\/h3>

Anisha joined the PD team in August 2020 in the height of the Covid pandemic, and had to wait for months before having the pleasure of seeing the trainees face to face, making do with virtual zoom contact in the meantime!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having completed her foundation training in Oxford before moving to London for a short stint of core medical training, Anisha then became a proud member of the Barnet VTS scheme from 2011-2014, was an ST3 at the Speedwell Practice and has been there ever since and is now a Partner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As well as being a programme director, Anisha is Clinical Lead for the Barnet Training Hub (roles have included running Pan Barnet events and setting up clinical supervision for care homes) and is a GP Champion for Diabetes in Barnet. She works with the CLCH Community Diabetes Clinic to improve care and runs the diabetic clinic in the practice.  Her extra qualifications include MRCP, Certificate in Diabetes Care and Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. She has two small children at home and enjoys baking and entertaining, running and socialising with family and friends.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Rob returned to the Barnet scheme as a Programme Director in 2021. He had previously been a trainee on the scheme. He loved the supportive and friendly nature of the scheme and was sad to leave when his training ended! After he left the scheme as a trainee, he joined Amwell Group Practice in Islington, where he continues as a Partner and GP Trainer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As well as his clinical and PD work, Rob is a medical school examiner, GP Appraiser, ARCP panel member and also works with the NHS Induction and Refresher Scheme, helping to write stations and examine candidates.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr Rebecca Chalk<\/h3>

Rebecca joined Barnet VTS in 2009 as a trainee and qualified as a GP in 2012. Rebecca has been working as a salaried GP across Barnet for the past 12 years and settled at Brunswick Park Medical Practice in 2018. Soon after, Rebecca became a GP trainer and is currently the convenor for the North Barnet Trainers Workshop.  Rebecca is also the clinical lead for Children and Young People in PCN2 and chairs the Paediatric MDT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebecca is a mum to two energetic boys who keep her busy outside of work.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mandy Claret<\/h3>

Mandy Claret has been coordinating the Barnet GP Speciality Training Scheme since 2010. She is also the Programme Manager for the Barnet Training Hub and has played a key role in developing the health and care workforce in Barnet since the inception of training hubs in 2014.
